This week’s Intuned Online feature brings us the most popular choice of car for Nissan tuners; we’re featuring Chris Beardon’s 1996 240sx SE. We set out to Dallas, Texas to catch up with Chris and his Red Devil and find out what sets his car out from the crowd. The background on the 240sx is that in Japan & North America there aren’t many affordable rear wheel drive cars for sale, especially if it’s your first car. This is the start of how you create a wanting. Lucky enough for JDM enthusiasts in North America this works out perfectly. 240sx were sold domestically and the counterparts in Japan (Silvia’s) were sold with the more powerful and high potential turbo SR20 motors as well as many more options. Due to the popularity of Silvia’ and 240’s alike as well as the general rules for supply and demand, aftermarket parts companies have made hundreds of different aftermarket parts for these cars and even years after the end of production they still continue to design new parts.

Going back to Chris’ we can definitely see he has good taste starting with the full Origin Lab body kit with wider body flairs all covered in fresh velocity red pearl paint. To refresh the front end Chris used S14 Japan headlights, corners and grill for that more aggressive look. The inside was kept very simple and very clean by adding Bride Ergo II seats with a pair of Takata harnesses straight out of Super GT. When Chris popped the hood on this Red Devil we were happy to see an SR20 blacktop from a Japanese Silvia (S13). As far as any car goes this engine was clean, with a lot of custom polishing work to make it even cleaner.

Many parts from companies like Top Speed Pro-1, Koyo, Greddy & 5Zigen help keep this car running in top shape. Just before we left we were blinded by reflection of the Texas sun set coming off the lip of Chris’s deep dish rear wheels, SSR D5R’s to be exact. These wheels are staggered with 18×10.5 rears and 18×9 in the front which also hide the Brembo Gran Turismo brake kit.

We’d like to thank Chris for letting us feature his car and say that his car is one devil that’s earned some worship.
