The Cherokee A4 1.8T

There’s an old saying “when in Germany, do as the Germans do†or something like that. Intuned Online heads over to San Diego for this week’s feature and we’d like to do as the San Diegans do. San Diegans like Cherokee Coates; to be specific and his built 2003 Audi A4. Projects can start many ways, for some of us we can recall our first project car being late 80’s or early 90’s model. Projects usually are in need of major TLC and for those of you like myself, are still working out their kinks attempting to get it right. When taking a car like an Audi A4 for your project, you’re starting with one of the best manufactured cars from any corner of the world. With state of the art technology and years of racing heritage; it’s often difficult to improve the engineering and design of a car with as much R&D as Audi but Cherokee was able to do it.
Cherokee’s A4 keeps the luxurious heritage as the paint was done in a classic 2-tone of Dolphin Gray and Basalt Black. The rest of the exterior was enhanced with a full Oettinger kit and door trim. The front end was made more aggressive with a Kamei badge less grill and e-code headlights. The A4 also rests on very clean 3-piece 19×8.5 RH AL wheels. Under the hood is where the German engineers stopped for manufacturing reasons and Cherokee continued. The engine was worked over with many upgrades including an APR ECU mapped for the KO4 Turbo, and polished Oettinger intake pipe. A full Milltek exhaust with custom Labeara down pipe was installed to allow the engine to exhale.
There’s no mistaking this A4 as a luxury car when looking at the interior. The stock seats were swapped out for very classy suede Sparco Milanos with a matching alcantara headliner. Defi gauges give a subdued appearance while keeping tabs on the engine up front. Featured is an all-inclusive sound system from Alpine fitted with a 15†TV, 2 tone alcantara trunk with a built in spare wheel display.
Cherokee’s A4 showed us the true balance between luxury, style and performance. In the words of Ron Burgundy “stay classy San Diegoâ€

May 2nd, 2008I remember seeing this car up on ebay last year. But I don’t think it was two tone back then. Nice ride minus the two tone.
